Silversea to Launch $170 Million Fleet Refurbishment

silver whisperSilversea has announced plans for the largest fleet refurbishment program in the luxury cruise line’s history.

Based on guest feedback, the $170 million program will start with Silver Whisper, which will undergo renovations by the end of 2016 in time for the ship's 2017 World Cruise. The project will include a refurbishment of the ship’s suites and the addition of dark emperor marble flooring to the ship’s bathrooms, as well as the addition of a freshly tiled pool and new chaise lounges in the ship’s public spaces. Dining areas at The Restaurant and La Terrazza will be re-skinned with new carpet and hard-wood parquet respectively, and will each receive new furniture. Finally, the ship’s communications hub will get two new satellite antennas to improve Internet speeds and allow guests to take advantage of the new interactive TVs and on demand movies available in every suite.

Next for refurbishment will be Silver Wind during that ship’s dry dock scheduled for October 2016. That project will include refurbishment of furniture and furnishings, technology upgrades that include interactive TVs and on demand movies in every suite. Additionally, the concept restaurant La Terrazza and the flagship Main Restaurant will both have new flooring installed. The pool deck will undergo a complete rip-and-replace approach to its teak flooring.

Silver Discoverer will also enter dry dock this October. The Restaurant will be remodelled with a lighter, more contemporary colour palette and the pool grill area will get new furniture. The Discoverer lounge will go through a transformation from breakfast venue to a sophisticated lounge in which to relax, read and reflect on the day’s excursions. Silversea will also invest in new AV technology in the Explorer Lounge and new furniture.

Further details will be announced later.
