Star Clippers to Offer Free Yoga On Two 2014 Voyages

Star Clippers is offering free yoga and meditation classes on two sailings in 2014.

Guests on Star Flyer's Aug. 2 Balearic Islands voyage and Royal Clipper's Nov. 6 trans-Atlantic crossing will have access to complimentary yoga lessons by qualified instructors.

On Star Flyer's Aug. 2 Balearic and Spain cruise, guests can learn Ishta-style yoga, focusing on asana, meditation, anatomy and yogic and tantric philosophy under the instruction of Raphaella Rose. Australian-born Rose currently is based in Barcelona, Spain, and promotes friendly and accessible yoga. She has practiced yoga for 16 years and taught classes in the U.S., Great Britain and Spain, running regular retreats alongside her class schedule.

Yoga expert Christel Vollmer returns to Royal Clipper on the Nov. 6 trans-Atlantic sailing. She will hold daily sessions of Astanga yoga, also known as power yoga, on deck in the fresh morning air, with a second session just before sunset, including meditation. She also will give lectures on the philosophy of yoga and advice for practice at home.

Both sailings will offer twice-daily yoga and meditation on the open deck. In addition to practice, the instructors will lecture on the health benefits of different styles of yoga -- from slimming effects to back care. All classes and lectures are optional, and additional ship activities will be offered as part of the standard daily program. The classes are suitable for all levels and no prior experience is required.

Fares for Royal Clipper's 16-night sailing departing from Lisbon, Portugal, for Barbados Nov. 6 begin at $2,783, per person, double occupancy, including Advance Purchase Discounts and a trans-Atlantic air credit; port charges are additional.

Star Flyer's seven-day itinerary calls at Valencia, Spain, and the four Balearic islands that make up the beautiful archipelago off the coast. Fares start at $1,550 per person, double occupancy, including Advance Purchase Discounts and a trans-Atlantic air credit; port charges are additional.
