TAC Cruise Buys Windstar Cruises, Will Continue Operations

Cruise company Ambassadors International, Inc. ("Ambassadors") has announced that the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware has granted an order approving the sale of the cruise company's assets. Despite the inclusion of its principal operating unit, Windstar Cruises, to TAC Cruise LLC, an affiliate of Xanterra Holding Corporation, the luxury cruise line will honor all fares and reservations, as the operator plans to maintain the cruise line's business and operations and invest in its growth following the sale.

In compliance with Section 363 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, a court-supervisied competitive bidding process was held, during which TAC Cruise LLC submitted a winning bid of $39 million in cash. Once assumed by Xanterra, which has operated in the hospitality and leisure industry for more than 100 years, Windstar will be operated as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the holding corporation based in Greenwood Village, Colo.
