Dense fog has closed all inbound and outbound traffic at the Port of Tampa, John Heald, veteran Carnival Cruise Line cruise director and blogger, tells Travel Agent. Another ship has been docked in a berth at Terminal 3 that had been slated for Carnival Paradise and is waiting for conditions to improve to sail.

Update: According to a written statement from Carnival Cruise Line, guests departing on today’s voyage have been notified of the current situation and have been asked to delay their arrival to the cruise terminal until further notice.

Carnival Paradise is returning from a five-day cruise to Grand Cayman and Cozumel that departed on Saturday, January 23 from Tampa, where it operates year-round.

"At this time, we can't provide you with an estimated time of arrival for the Carnival Paradise or the new check-in times for your cruise," Heald says. "However, we are hopeful the fog will clear later this morning. We'll continue to monitor the situation and will provide you another update no later than 11:00 AM (EST)."
