This Week in Cruise: Carnival Breeze Offers Transportation During Worker Strike

The Carnival Breeze recently sailed through Venice, Italy during a series of worker strikes that brought both traditional public transportation and Venice's popular water gondolas to a stand still. Despite this, all of Carnival Breeze's excursions operated without any changes, and in order to appease guests originally planning to see Venice independently, Carnival arranged for five boats that hold 200 passengers each to operate a water shuttle to St. Mark's Square and back. Carnival sold over 3,000 of the alternate transportation tickets.

Variety Cruises' Variety Voyager mega yacht became the first seagoing vessel to be inducted into the Preferred Hotels & Resorts Preferred Boutique Collection. Variety Voyager offers 36 cabins for 72 passengers and a 28-member crew. The Variety Voyager is presently operating exclusive charters and scheduled cruises in the Adriatic, from Venice, Trieste, Dubrovnik and Split. It is now deployed in the West Mediterranean for a four-month cruise season with sailings from Nice, France and Salerno, Italy on the new Romantic Rivieras itinerary starting July 14.
