Michael Drever stepped down as the CEO of Expedia CruiseShipCenters to act in a non-executive chairman role. Drever is the founder of Expedia CruiseShipCenters, and has been in charge of its strategic decision-making for 24 years. Matthew Eichhorst, the current president of the company, will be taking command of Drever's responsibilities. Eichhorst has served in an operational leadership position for nine years.
Bruce J. Himelstein, president of Oceania Cruises, also stepped down from his position, making way for Kunal S. Kamlani, who has been appointed to president of Oceania Cruises effective immediately. Kamlani is currently president and CEO of Prestige Cruise Holdings, and he will continue his work with them alongside his responsibilities at Oceania.
Cruise Lines International Association congratulated its first Accredited Cruise Manager graduate, Jane Vogel. Vogel is owner of Expedia CruiseShipCenters. The ACM program allows for access to information and experience for agency personnel that are not full-time travel agents.
Royal Caribbean International's Splendour of the Seas began a five-week dry dock session at the Navantia ship yard in Cadiz, Spain. The dry dock involves a $35 million revitalization project that will gift the ship with new amenities as well as 124 new balconies for guestrooms, five new restaurants, two new daycare facilities for children and a Diamond lounge for Crown and Anchor loyalty members. The construction is scheduled to finish on Nov. 25, 2011.
SeaDream Yacht Club is holding two product introduction webinars in November on Tuesday, Nov. 1 and Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 200 p.m. Eastern, 100 p.m. Central, 1200 p.m. Mountain and 1100 a.m. Pacific. The webinars are titled "Selling the Dream," and all that is required of an agent wishing to take part in them is access to a phone and the Internet.
