Titantic Memorial Cruises' Second 100-Year Anniversary CruiseApril 7, 2011 By: Melanie Gretchen
Titanic Memorial Cruise has announced a second, 100-year anniversary cruise, visiting the site of the Titanic's sinking for a memorial service, during an eight-night charter voyage. Departing New York on April 10, the cruise will feature a series of Titanic historian lecturers onboard the 694-passenger Azamara Journey, priced from $4,725 per person or $6,750 for suites, per person, based on double occupancy.
One-hundred years after the April 14, 1912 event, Azamara Journey will meet the 1,309 passengers aboard the first 100-anniversary Titanic Memorial Cruise, Balmoral, out of Southampton, England. During the cruise, Azamara Journey will call at Halifax, Nova Scotia, featuring excursion opportunities, including a visit to the Fairview Lawn Cemetery where victims of the sinking were laid to rest.
Onboard, guests will be able to enjoy onboard amenities including housekeeping, bottled water, sodas, specialty coffee, and teas, and boutique red and white wines to accompany lunch and dinner. Fashioned after a European boutique hotel, the cruise will also feature fine dining, wines from around the world, and wellness and vitality programs.
“Our original Titanic anniversary cruise aboard Balmoral sold out last fall to over 1,300 people from 24 countries, including 350 from the U.S.,” said Miles Morgan, managing director of the Titanic Memorial Cruise. “Many passengers either had relatives on the Titanic, or have a lifelong fascination with the story. We are expecting that Azamara Journey, with only half the Balmoral’s capacity, will sell quickly.”
