Tropical Storm Bertha Prompts Cruise Itinerary Adjustments

carnival breeze atriumTropical Storm Bertha is churning in Atlantic waters and while it doesn’t appear to be strengthening significantly, it has created some minor hiccups to cruise itineraries.

Jennifer De La Cruz, spokeswoman for Carnival Cruise Lines (www.goccl.com), says the storm’s impact has been pretty minor. For Carnival Liberty’s Aug. 1 departure from Port Canaveral, the line canceled the port call in Grand Turk originally planned for Sunday, Aug, 3, and replaced it with a call in Nassau, The Bahamas, on Friday, Aug. 8.

For the Carnival Breeze’s Aug. 2 departure from Miami, the line modified the sequence of the ports and moved Grand Turk from the beginning to the end of the itinerary. All ports remain on this ship’s itinerary; the line just switched the sequence.

Carnival Splendor's Aug. 4 departure from New York City is now sailing an adjusted itinerary to steer clear of the storm. Originally it had calls in this order: Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay, Nassau. Now the revised itinerary includes Port Canaveral, Nassau, Half Moon Cay.

Norwegian Cruise Line (www.ncl.com) spokesperson Vanessa Picariello said “we are closely monitoring the path of Tropical Storm Bertha. At this time, all of our ships are sailing as scheduled.”
