This Week in Cruise: Contest, New Ship Updates on Europe’s Rivers

This week in the cruise industry there have been a number of exciting developments on Europe’s rivers. Here’s what to watch.

Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection is getting ready to roll out its new, Millennial-targeted U by Uniworld brand by offering travel agents the chance to win a spot on the brand’s preview sailing through a social media contest.

To enter, travel agents ages 21-45 can shoot and post a 30 second video to U by Uniworld’s Facebook page describing how they are going to sell the brand, with the winners getting a spot on the line’s preview Paris to Paris sailing October 7 – 11, 2017.

In new ship news, Crystal River Cruises announced the new culinary concepts that will debut on the upcoming Crystal Bach, which sets sail this August on the Rhine, Danube and Main Rivers. This week Crystal announced that the ship’s restaurants, which include the Waterside Restaurant, Bistro Café and the Vintage Room, will serve farm-to-table, Michelin-inspired cuisine, with a special menu inspired by each different region. Each menu will be matched to the ship’s itinerary.

Finally, Emerald Waterways has announced an expanded lineup of onboard programming that includes new photography workshops, yoga classes and dining with a celebrity guest chef. The new experiences will launch this year. On the October 14 Sensations of Southern France cruise, guests will get photo tips from professional photographer Jack Hollingsworth. Additionally, on the line’s sailings through France, travelers will get to sample a traditional Provencal style dinner in Avignon. On Douro itineraries, guests will be able to take part in onboard yoga classes.
