This Week in Cruise: Silversea Modifies Black Sea Voyages, Norwegian Jewel Readies for Houston Arrival

Silversea Cruises recently modified the itineraries of four of its Black Sea voyages originally scheduled to call in Yalta, Sevastopol, or Odessa this year due to uncertainty rising from the political situation in Ukraine. As a result of this, Silver Spirit's July 21 seven-day sailing will remain entirely a Black Sea itinerary with Trabzon replacing Odessa, while three new nine-day voyages will focus on destinations in Greece and Turkey, and also retain the original Black Sea ports of Constanza and Nessebur.

Additionally, new nine-day voyages, Silver Cloud's Oct. 13 sailing and Silver Spirit's voyages of Aug. 20 and Sept. 29, now come with a complimentary full-day Silversea Experience in Bucharest. This includes a drive through Romania's countryside, a Romanian-style lunch and an exploration of the capital city's Palace of Parliament, Patriarchal Hill, open-air Village Museum, and Revolution Square. Alternatively, guests may opt for a $200 per guest onboard credit.

Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Jewel re-entered service on May 17, 2014, following a two-week dry dock where the ship received enhancements as she readies for her arrival in Houston, Texas on Oct. 11, 2014, following the summer season in Alaska.

Starting May 17, 2014, Norwegian Jewel begins a series of seven-day Alaska cruises from Seattle through Sept. 13, 2014. Ports of call on this itinerary include Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway, Alaska as well as Victoria, British Columbia. Following the Alaska cruise season, Norwegian Jewel repositions to Houston and begins sailing a series of Western Caribbean cruises on Oct. 11, 2014, with stops in Cozumel, Mexico; Belize City, Belize; and Banana Coast, Honduras.

MSC Cruises completed hiring to double its North American sales force in preparation of its North American Roadshow. As part of this, Wayne Peyreau was promoted to regional VP, sales USA, and Denise Reichwein was appointed to regional sales director for the North Eastern region of the U.S.

Travel agent partners around the U.S. and Canada will have the opportunity to meet their dedicated MSC Cruises sales contacts at a series of Serving You Roadshow events scheduled to kick-off on May 29 in Atlanta and continue throughout 2014 in more than 20 major markets and regions.
