Three More Carriers Announce Flight Schedules to Cuba

A trio of notable carriers recently released details on new flight schedules to Cuba. Read on for the details of the new Cuba flights being launched by Austrian Airlines, JetBlue Airways and Southwest Airlines.

Austrian Airlines Launches Service to Havana

Austrian Airlines officially kicked off its new service to Havana, Cuba, this week on a Boeing 767. The new flights to Cuba will take off from Austria once per week on Tuesdays.

“We have continuously expanded our offering to long-haul tourist destinations since 2013, with flights now being operated to Colombo and Mauritius," said Andreas Otto, chief commercial officer of Austrian Airlines, in a written statement.

Austrian Airlines now offers flights to four long-haul tourist destinations in its winter 2016/17 flight schedule - Mauritius, the Maldives, Colombo and Havana.

The duration of the journey from Vienna to Havana is about 12 hours 10 minutes. 

Austrian Airlines is Austria’s largest carrier and operates a global route network of roughly 130 destinations.

JetBlue Announces Cuba Flights From New York, Orlando and Fort Lauderdale

JetBlue Airways recently announced the anticipated addition of service to Havana, Cuba’s José Martí International Airport (HAV) starting in late November.

Havana, the airline’s fourth Cuban destination and 100th destination network-wide, will be served by daily round-trip flights from three JetBlue focus cities on the airline’s newest Airbus A321 aircraft.

The Cuba service begins at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) on November 28, at Orlando International Airport (MCO) on November 29 and at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) on November 30. Also, a second daily flight will launch out of Fort Lauderdale on December 1.

Introductory fares from Florida start at $54 one-way and introductory fares from New York start at $99 one-way, including Cuban government-required health insurance coverage.

With service to Havana, JetBlue – which launched its first flight in February 2000 – will serve 100 destinations across 22 countries in the U.S., Latin America and the Caribbean.

Southwest Airlines to Launch Cuba Service From Fort Lauderdale, Tampa Bay

Southwest Airlines has announced its flight schedule of new nonstop service between Florida and Cuba, bringing Southwest to its ninth country and 100th destination. 

Service between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Varadero, Cuba (VRA) is scheduled to begin Sunday, November 13, and Havana (HAV) service is scheduled to commence Monday, December 12, from both Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Tampa International Airport (TPA), subject to requisite approvals of the Cuban government. 

Service details for Santa Clara, Cuba (SNU) are intended to be released in the coming weeks.

In celebration of the new service, Southwest is offering a special fare of $59 one-way on nonstop flights to and from Cuba (14-day advance purchase required) from now through November 20, 11:59 p.m. in the time zone of the originating city) for travel from November 13 through April 24, 2017.
