The James New York's awe-inspiring rooftop is perhaps our most enviable feature. It boasts a sexy social atmosphere, with an enclosed bar and lounge set against 360-degree views of the Manhattan skyline. Framed by the hotel's architectural "halo," the private rooftop pool featuring teak wood decking and outdoor showers, includes both indoor and outdoor seating for warm weather fun and relaxation.

Our rooftop bar, Jimmy, is a contemporary interpretation of a classic pub with a 1970’s New York twist. Elements like herringbone floors, a leather trimmed solid wood bar top, brick glazed tile walls, rich blue upholstery and working fireplaces come together to create a sense of warmth. A year-round destination, Jimmy opens into the rooftop pool deck during the warmer months. But whether indoors or out, Jimmy guests are treated to one of the most spectacular views in New York City: a river-to-river vista looking over Midtown, Wall Street, the Brooklyn Bridge and beyond.

Guests can order from our classically inspired cocktail menu with ingredients including syrups, bitters and juices prepared in-house from herbs in our Chef’s Garden.

Café Boulud at The Surrey Hotel

The restaurant’s menu reflects Boulud’s four culinary muses: la tradition, classic French cuisine; la saison, seasonal delicacies; le potager, the vegetable garden; and le voyage, the flavors of world cuisines.

Both an exquisite fine dining destination and a neighborhood treasure, Café Boulud is not to be missed.

Bar Pleiades

The perfect place to meet, entertain or simply people-watch on Madison Avenue, Bar Pleiades is the newest addition to the Café Boulud family. Named for the beloved French restaurant frequented by Manhattan’s art world elite of the 1970s and 80s, Bar Pleaides combines the elegantly attentive service of a fine hotel bar with the distinctive cocktail menu of a talented mixologist.

New York Magazine picked Bar Pleaides as the best place to propose in New York, noting that "the deep banquettes are surrounded by creamy, quilted walls that will make your beloved feel like she (or he) is luxuriating in a Chanel purse. Assuming you get a yes, the Surrey Hotel’s romantic suites are just an elevator ride away."

Mixologist Cameron Bogue has earned a reputation for working with seasonal market ingredients and house-brewed accents.

While classic in spirit, his signature cocktails take their direction from the renowned Café Boulud just next door.

The bar and lounge décor – inspired by both fashion icon Coco Chanel and the elegant lines of a 1930s Art Deco bar cart – features black and white lacquer finishes, French doors and quilted walls, inviting seclusion in intimate niches. Settle into a banquette and simply relax.
