Huka Lodge in New Zealand now has The Alan Pye Cottage, named after the Irishman who established Huka Lodge, which opened in early 2009.
Designed by interior designers Virginia Fisher and Christian Anderson and Sumich Architects, it has its own entrance and is gated. The cottage has two large bedrooms, each with fireplaces, en suite bathrooms and dressing rooms; an open plan living room with a large brick fireplace; and a study with desk, plasma flat-screen TV, sound system and private bathroom. A well-equipped kitchen is set up for a personal chef; guests can also choose to dine at the main lodge. Views from the cottage are of the Waikato River.
Additional features are a heated infinity-style swimming pool, a separate private spa pool and stone outdoor pavilion within a courtyard garden. Guests of the cottage have use of all Huka Lodge facilities and services.
