Disney’s Main Street Electrical Parade Returns

One of Disneyland Park’s most popular parades, the Main Street Electrical Parade, returns on January 20, 2017, with nightly performances running through June 18.

The colorful, nighttime parade premiered in 1972 in Disneyland, and has since spread to Disney resorts around the globe. These encore performances will be the first time Disneyland has seen the parade since 1996 (although Disney California Adventure hosted the event as recently as 2010).

Guests can purchase a special ticket, allowing them admittance to the after-hours premier on January 19. Additionally, ticketholders get access to select attractions and restaurants in the park from 7:30 to midnight. Tickets for the premier go on sale to Disneyland Resort Annual Passholders on December 6, while the general public can purchase tickets starting December 13. They may be purchased at any Disneyland Resort ticket booth of by calling 714-781-4636.

The Main Street Electrical Parade brings several Disney stories to life on floats displaying Mickie and Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Cinderella, Peter Pan, Snow White, Pinocchio, and Alice in Wonderland, all accompanied by classic songs and the “Baroque Hoedown” synthesized soundtrack, and roughly half a million lights.

Impressive float feats include: Cinderalla’s float includes a 23-foot-tall clock tower; a smoke-breathing dragon dominates the Pete’s Dragon float – standing at 16 feet tall and weighing in at 5,600 pounds; and the final float, a 108-foot-long red, white, and blue tribute to America.
