Grand Canal to Get Fourth Bridge

For the first time in decades, a new bridge is being constructed over the Grand Canal, the famed waterway of Venice. The Associated Press reports that the bridge, designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, is the fourth over the Grand Canal, connecting the train station to the Piazzale Roma, the site of the city's main bus terminal. The $13.6 million project is expected to be complete by the end of 2008.
