Grand Velas Los Cabos, opening December 20 on Mexico’s Baja Peninsula, has announced a series of new wine-based programs led by Master Sommelier Don Pedro Poncelis Brambila.

The hotel’s close proximity to the Baja California wine region served as an inspiration for the program, with 50 local wines of all varieties available nightly, with a supplemental list of 200 wines from all over the world also available. Additionally, Don Pedro Poncelis Brambila will curate food and wine pairings, wine tastings, and a wine lovers’ over-the-top getaway for resort guests.

The resort’s over-the-top getaway will take guests via private jet to the bodega in Ensenada where Velas Resorts buys its Mexican wines.

Upon opening, Grand Velas Los Cabos will have among the largest and most valuable selection of wines in the destination. Of its selection, several Mexican fine wines from the north of Baja California and its valleys, including Casa Magoni, Casa Madero, La Carrodilla, and L.A. Cetto will be included.

Don Pedro Poncelis Brambila joins Grand Velas Los Cabos with over 30 years’ experience, and studied under the Catalan master Don Juan Muñoz Ramos, recognized as the third best sommelier in the world. In Poncelis’ career, he has been awarded the Best Sommelier in Mexican Wines in France and Best Mexican Sommelier by the Mexican Association of Sommeliers; was a contestant in the Grand Prix du Sommelier Sopexa ’97; and most recently served as the Sommelier of the Hotel Presidente Intercontinental, recognized internationally as the best in Latin America, where he was given the Award of Excellence by Wine Spectator

Grand Velas’ all-inclusive rate includes luxury suite accommodations, a la carte gourmet meals, premium branded beverages, 24-hour in-suite service, fitness center, nightly entertainment, and more.
