Tokyo Promotes Tourism at New York's Grand Central Terminal

Travel Agent was on site Friday for the Tokyo Fiesta Cultural Extravaganza, an event organized by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and designed to promote the capital of Japan to New York City, which Vice Governor of Tokyo, Yasuo Sekiya, calls his city's "sister city." The event at Grand Central Terminal kicked off with a 3-D presentation of Tokyo followed by a question-and-answer portion featuring Sekiya, in which he notes Tokyo will be holding several sporting events that are expected to attract a large share of tourism. The Tokyo Marathon will be held in February and is expected attract at least 30,000 people, Sekiya says, noting Tokyo also hopes to be a candidate site for the 2016 Olympics.
