Triumvirate to Create Luxe Bahamian Resort

Baha Mar Resorts is teaming up with casino operator Harrah's Entertainment and hotelier Starwood Hotels & Resorts to create a $2 billion resort in the Bahamas, the company announced Tuesday. Baha Mar Resorts formed a joint venture with Harrah's, and the companies signed a deal with Starwood to manage the mixed-use resort. Construction is slated to begin this year, with an expected opening in early 2011. The project will consist of about 3,000 rooms with Harrah's operating a new 1,000-room Caesars Resort Hotel. The remaining rooms will be doled out to Starwood, which will operate four of its brands at the resort: W, St. Regis, Westin and Sheraton.
