Where to Ski This Spring From Ski.com

While spring may be just around the corner, it’s not too late for an end-of-season ski getaway. During March and April Ski.com is offering deals on spring events at resorts around North America.

Vail Mountain, Colorado: From April 9 to 15, “Spring Back to Vail” is an end-of-season bash that features free concerts, including Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Thievery Corporation and JJ Grey & Mofro, an all-mountain film competition and the World Pond Skimming Championships.

Aspen / Snowmass, Colorado: “Shneetag” on April 15, from the German word for “snow day,” pits teams of four in a competition to create a craft that they will pilot down Aspen Mountain and attempt to float across a 20 by 30 foot pond. Each team has a theme and will perform a skit as they descend.

On April 22, “Aspen Highlands Closing Day” will boast live music and pond skimming.

Breckenridge, Colorado: “Spring Fever” from March 17 to April 15 is a festival that features bands, including Julian Marley, Donovan Frankenreiter, Toots and the Maytals, Leftover Salmon and Rusted Root. There will also be competitions, a chili cookoff, a beer festival and closing weekend parties.

Banff, Canada: “Spring Episode 12” on May 5 and 6 is a season-ending party with DJs, bands and snowboard contests.  On May 21, travelers can check out the “84th Annual Slush Cup” in Sunshine Village, which pits brave souls in a contest to ski or ride into a pool of ice-cold slush water while wearing unique costumes.

Whistler, Canada: The “Telus World Ski & Snowboard Festival” from April 13 to 22 offers travelers ski and snowboard competitions, fashion shows and photo competitions, as well as a filmmaker contest and Canada’s largest free outdoor concert series.
