Wyndham Acquires Grand Beach Palace in St. Thomas

Wyndham Vacation Ownership announced Friday that it has acquired the Grand Beach Palace resort (formerly the Renaissance Grand Hotel) located on the northeast side of St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, with plans to convert the property into its flagship Caribbean timeshare resort. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Lisa Burby, senior director of Wyndham Vacation Ownership, told Travel Agent one of the motivating factors in the acquisition is the increasing amount of demand Wyndham has seen in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Members of the Wyndham Vacation Ownership program can get an exclusive discount of 20 percent off Wyndham's Best Available rates at five participating Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. Of those, the newly renovated Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort & Spa in the U.S. Virgin Islands has been the most frequently requested property since the program launched, Burby says.
