The Occidental El Embajador in the Dominican Republic has announced the completion of a $5 million renovation program.
Begun in 2013, the renovations modernized the facilities of the flagship city hotel from Occidental Hotels & Resorts while respecting the classic design of the hotel, which hearkens back to the golden age of the Dominican Republic in the 1950s, Occidental said.
The new lobby offers a "Gastro Wine Bar" concept where guests can enjoy cocktails and tapas, as well as drinks from a wine and champagne cellar and Caribbean fusion dishes. Similarly, the new lobby bar offers a sampling of international cocktails and a selection of Dominican rum.
61 of the property's Superior Rooms have been completely renovated in a classical contemporary design with neutral colors and new furniture. 104 of the rooms and suites that are part of Club El Embajador, the hotel's executive floor, have also been renovated with warm colors, new furniture, a separate reception area and a new private VIP lounge. All Club El Embajador rooms and suites offer ocean or city views.
The Royal Club on the eighth floor of the hotel now has 22 newly renovated rooms and five renovated suites with new contemporary decor and furnishings in a warm color palette. The newly renovated Royal Club has a reception area, bar, restaurant and private meeting rooms, in addition to a terrace overlooking the hotel garden and ocean.
The hotel has also launched a new "El Embajador Gourmet" catering and delivery service under the concept of the cuisine of the Occidental El Embajador for offsite events. The hotel has also opened a gourmet market that will accept phone orders as well as online catering and delivery requests through their e-commerce site at “elembajadorgourmet.com”. The team is led by Occidental El Embajador’s Executive Chef Alberto Martin. The service can meet the needs of intimate events of 15 to large galas of 1,000.
