We recently hosted our advisory board for Luxury Travel Exchange International (LTX), and, as an icebreaker to get to know each other better, we decided to share our favorite phone apps.

Here’s what we shared. How many are you using?

Uber is an on-demand service that allows you to seamlessly find a car and driver across the country by typing your address into the app. Best part? Your credit card is stored with Uber so all you have to do is get in the car, sit back and relax once the driver finds you.

IBX Healthy Steps help you track your walking or running results for a preloaded route or one of your own. Along the way, you can send text and social media notifications to friends and family.

Evernote lets you store all your files and access them on any of your devices as long as you’re signed in. You can e-mail them to yourself or to anyone else using the system.

Facebook: Need we say more? What’s better than uploading your vacation photos to make everyone at home jealous?

Freshdirect allows New Yorkers to order a selection of 20,000 types of groceries directly via their phones. We hear it’s addictive and think it would be great for those times you come home from a trip and there’s no food in the house.

Kobo is an e-reading app that gives you access to one million free titles. Just the app to pass time while you’re waiting to go through airline security.

Flightboard won the 2012 Webby Award for best travel app. We hear it turns your iPhone or iPad into the “Arrivals and Departures board” for any airport in the world.

Tripit lets you forward your travel confirmation e-mails to [email protected] and it will automatically build an itinerary for your trip that you can access anytime, either online or from a mobile device.

AroundMe, a location-aware mobile search app, lets you find businesses (hospitals, bars, shops) of all sorts in 200 countries.

Pandora is a personalized radio service that streams music on your phone; ideal for killing time on the cab line curbside.

Seamless allows you to order lunch from your phone from a large selection of restaurants. Who says you can’t do this from your hotel room?

Instagram is the photo-sharing app that lets you select attractive filters to enhance your pictures.

SightSee is an app that lets you see photographs from around the world from popular public hosting sites (Flickr and Panoramio) and allows you to zoom and scroll with full search capabilities.

My Wine Log allows you to log and rate the wines you enjoy while traveling (or at home).

What’s your favorite travel app? E-mail me at [email protected] and I’ll share it with your fellow readers.
