Travel Corporation Brands to Resume Egypt Trips in September

Great news for Egypt today: Following the recent presidential election, The Travel Corporation family of brands has announced its intention to resume operations in Egypt for the 2014/2015 season. As of September, Contiki and Busabout will re-commence trips, with Trafalgar and Insight Vacations starting from January 2015 and Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection from September 2015. African Travel, Inc. and Lion World Travel are also looking to re-enter the market, but do not yet have committed dates.

“We have been monitoring the destination closely, and after extensive consultation with our teams on the ground – and in speaking with our travel partners in each market – we are pleased to confirm a return to Egypt later this year," Brett Tollman, CEO of The Travel Corporation, said in a statement, adding that traveler safety would be an "utmost priority" and that the companies would maintain constant dialogue with colleagues in the region ahead of the planned re-commencement dates.

“We are seeing pent-up demand for the destination," he added. "Travel and tourism have historically represented approximately 30% of Egypt’s GDP, making it critically important that we as an industry show our support at this time for this great country and its proud peoples’ economic recovery...Travel dates and pricing will become available brand by brand during the next few months.”

Good to know: The Travel Corporation continues to observe all U.S. Department of State Travel Alerts and Warnings and "strongly recommends" guests adhere to such advice.
