Earlier this year, Emerald Waterways launched the Exceptional Group Value Program, an amenity points program that allows travel agents to select from a slew of bonuses for group bookings, including onboard amenities, marketing dollars, incremental commission, or savings on bookings. Earlier this month however, the Australian river cruise line announced an update for its program that provides even more group travel options.
Guests who book a group of five cabins or more for 2018 sailings before September 30, 2017 can choose between two promotions:
1. Fly free on all cruises of 15 days or more and $495 airfare on all cruises of 8-14 days.
2. $500 savings per person on all riverview suites and $1,000 savings per person on all balcony suites.
Besides these two promotions, groups that pay for their voyage in full by October 31, 2017 will save up to an additional $800 per couple.
With every Emerald Waterways group sailing they book, travel agents can earn Exceptional Group Value (EGV) points. The amount of points an agent receives is based on destinations and sailing dates, and can be used to customize an offer to better suit any given travel group.
For example: an agent who books a group on a Douro River cruise in Portugal in the months of July, August and November would earn four EGV points. Those points can then be exchanged for multiple amenities like an onboard cocktail party (one point) and $100 onboard credit for the group (3 points), or used to obtain a 2% bonus commission for the agent (4 points) or to get pre- or post- hotel room nights for the group (4 points). With this most recent update, Emerald Waterways has added a TC accelerator of one free with seven full paying guests for four EGV points.
These developments precede the 2018 launch of the world’s first Discovery yacht, the Scenic Eclipse, from Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours, of which Emerald Waterways is part of.
