London Underground Workers Vote to Strike

Bad news from London this morning, where workers who maintain and upgrade Tube lines on the Underground have reportedly voted to strike, according to the BBC.

The staff involved work on the Piccadilly, Northern and Jubilee lines. No dates for the strike were reported.

The Rail Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) union said that the conflict is over pensions and benefits. A spokesperson for the union, which represents about 1,000 staff on the Tube Lines contracts, added that workers voted 4-1 to take action.

Union members want to join Transport for London's (TfL) pension plan and receive travel concessions.
