Travel Agent attended an event on May 25 to celebrate American Airlines' new nonstop service from New York's John F. Kennedy Airport to Manchester.
Jim Carter, regional vice president of American Airlines, told us that the new flights, which are both eco-friendly and fuel efficient, offer brand new cabins, 16 business class seats and 166 coach seats. The flights will depart from the brand new $1.4 billion terminal at JFK.
As a special perk, American Airlines is offering 5,000 Advantage Bonus points to coach travelers and 10,000 to business class travelers for flights through June 30.
So why Manchester? Andrew Stokes, the chief executive marketing manager for Marketing Manchester, tells us that the city is a great gateway to the UK. It opens the doors to the Northwest, including the cities of Chester, Liverpool and the Lake District.
As part of the London 2012 Olympics, Manchester will be hosting the the olympic soccer portion. The city has also entered its bid to be the host city for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
