VisitLondon.com: Royal Birth Will Continue to Spur Tourism Growth

With the recent arrival of Princess Charlotte, the newest royal baby, VisitLondon.com is expecting visitation to the city to continue to increase this summer.

“Whilst it’s impossible to quantify the effect the birth of a new royal baby will have on the number of tourists visiting London, it’s clear that London’s tourism is going from strength the strength, and its royal connections and attractions are key drivers that attract people from the UK and abroad to the capital,” said Gordon Innes, chief executive of London & Partners, the Mayor of London’s official promotional company, which runs VisitLondon.com.

VisitLondon.com is predicting the capital will welcome nearly 32 million international and UK tourists to the city in 2015 - 2.7 million more than the 29.1 million visitors in 2013. The year of HRH Prince George’s birth, 2013, was a record-breaking year for tourism, with London welcoming almost 17 million international visits.

When Travel Agent visited London recently, the city was already gearing up for the royal birth. Tour operators including Collette, Insight Vacations and Abercrombie & Kent were all seizing on increased interest in the UK to spotlight itineraries for a variety of interests.
