Tour Op Offers 'Amazing Race'-style Package

March 29, 2010 By: Jena Tesse Fox

In the "so wacky it must be true" department, check out this tidbit from today's New York Times: It seems that a tour operator called Competitours is organizing "a series of European competitions that has been called 'Amazing Race' for regular people. Seventeen pairs of teams vie for a $9,000 prize pot over nine days by facing challenges that require engaging with locals and tourists, exploring myths and legends and sampling local food."

The Competitours game is reportedly less intense than the global $1 million hunt. Challenges range from clocking your best time on a 4,000-foot-high alpine toboggan to finding and trying local delicacies in a pedestrian mall. Teams score points by documenting each challenge they accomplish with a video camera. The package costs $2,675 a person based on double occupancy.

What do you think of this $type?
