Eurostar Resumes Service to Brussels

March 1, 2010 By: Jena Tesse Fox

The BBC and other sources are reporting that Eurostar services between the UK and Brussels will fully resume today, more than two weeks after a fatal crash in Belgium.

Service in the Brussels region was disrupted following a collision between two commuter trains, which killed 18 and injured about 150 people. Following the suspension, Eurostar ran a limited London-Brussels operation.

There will be five direct Eurostar services between London and Brussels on Saturday and Sunday. Over the weekend, trains will be leaving Brussels 20 minutes earlier than the advertised time and customers will be informed of the change to the timetable.

Service between London and Paris was unaffected.

The crash at Halle, near Brussels, was at the point where commuter and high-speed lines meet, preventing Eurostar and other train companies from being able to operate in the area.
