Academy of Hospitality and Tourism to Honor Brooklyn Contributors

December 10, 2007 By: Travel Agent Central Contributor Travel Agent

On January 29, the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism will host a dinner themed "The Best of Brooklyn: Past, Present and Future," celebrating key players who have contributed to the evolution of the New York City's borough and its tourism industry. The event will honor president of the Queens-based Muss Development Company, Joshua Muss; Michael Leven, former president and CEO of US Franchise Systems; and Marty Markowitz, Brooklyn borough president. The New York Marriott Brooklyn, where the dinner will be held, will also be paid tribute.

The Academy of Hospitality and Tourism offers industry-specific education and is designed to introduce high school students to all aspects of the travel industry, teach economic and social concepts related to travel and tourism, and help them identify career paths. The Academy operates 10 schools across NYC with two- to four-year programs. Tickets for the event are priced at $600 per chair and tables start at $5,000. Money raised will be used to support a variety of programs for the AOHT. Contact Regina Flannery at 212-968-2075 or e-mail [email protected]. (MA)
