Fiji Open for Business Despite Flooding

Fiji is open for business despite severe flooding that has killed six people and forced thousands to evacuate their homes, News.com.au is reporting.

Nadi town has been hit by flooding, with waters reaching at least nearly four feet and cars being washed away. In spite of the rising waters, Nadi Airport remains operational, and a spokeswoman for the airport said that all flights are operating as normal.

The manager of the Sheraton on Denarau Island said it was frustrating that incorrect rumors about the flooding were unsettling travelers. Denarau, home to hotels including Westin, Radisson and Sofitel, is close to Nadi and is often used by tourists as a launching pad for holidays on outlying Fijian islands.
