Fiji Welcomes Tourists Following Floods

April 6, 2012 By: Adam Leposa

The flooding that struck Fiji last week is over and tourism on the island is returning to normal, Tourism Fiji said in a statement.

Air Pacific, Fiji’s national airline, and all other major airlines have resumed service and major hotels and resorts are now open. Inter-island cruise and ferry service at Port Denarau has been restored, and roads and bridges from Nadi International Airport to Denarau and the Coral Coast are fully passable.

The risk of flooding is over and the main tourism areas are clear of floodwaters. While there is some residual flooding in non-resort areas, such as Ba and Rakiraki, those waters are expected to recede in the next few days.
