Are you seeing signs of a slowing economy through your clients' booking trends?

"NorthStar was on target for January production, but we were hoping for a better month," says Mike Kempinski of NorthStar Cruises in Caldwell, NJ. In early February, it was "a bit quiet. The calls that did come in were quality calls.... NorthStar has never been an agency to follow trends, and we still see 2008 to be a strong year.... Those who don't book in January, February and March will book later in the year."

"No," says Andi McClure-Mysza of Montrose Travel, based in Montrose, CA. "We continue to experience growth in both our in-house bookings as well as our affiliated home-based agents' bookings. We credit our aggressive marketing efforts coupled with our high level of customer service."

"At this time I've been quite busy with domestic bookings, so I haven't really seen a slowdown in that area yet," says Tracy Dennis of Four Seasons Travel in Mechanicsville, MD. "I have, however, noticed that clients are becoming increasingly price-conscious.... Prices for airfare have seemed to be a particular concern for many people. Requests I've had for international vacation packages have declined somewhat over the last few months."
