Although the sale of Air Jamaica still looms, the airline continues to beef up service. Just a few days after announcing a new June deadline for the privatization of the popular Caribbean airline, Air Jamaica announced increased flights from New York and new summer flights out of Fort Lauderdale.

Effective June 25, Air Jamaica will introduce the “Nitebird” flight on its New York route, thereby increasing the total number of daily flights to four during the busy summer travel season. The “Nitebird” will operate between New York’s John F. Kennedy airport and Kingston, departing New York at 2:15 a.m. and arriving in Kingston at 5 a.m. The return flight will depart Kingston at 12:15 a.m. and arrive in New York at 5 a.m. On the same days, Air Jamaica will operate five daily flights between Fort Lauderdale and Jamaica in anticipation of the busy summer travel season.
