Continental Plans Cleveland UpgradesSeptember 17, 2007 By: Jennifer Merritt Travel Agent
Continental has announced a three-phase plan, including a terminal revamp, to grow its capacity at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport by 40 percent through 2009. The first phase of the plan already has launched, with the carrier increasing capacity in such markets from Cleveland as San Francisco, Orlando, FL; Seattle and Los Angeles. The move will have Continental seeing a 10 percent increase in 2007 Cleveland operations over last year.
In 2008, Continental will add 27 new nonstop flights to 12 destinations from Cleveland, including Des Moines, IA; Green Bay, WI; Little Rock, AR; Memphis, TN; and Savannah, GA. Too, on May 22, 2008, the airline begins service from Cleveland to Paris' Charles de Gaulle Airport. Additional cities will be added in June 2008, during Phase Two of the plan. At that time, Continental expects to provide 300 daily departures from Cleveland, up from 242 daily departures this past June. Total nonstop destinations will increase from 80 to 100. Phase Three plans will be announced in 2008, with capacity in place for summer 2009, the carrier said.
In support of these additional services, Continental also has plans in place for expanded security checkpoints, a new waiting area and additional ticket counters at its terminal. More retail and food and beverage options also are in the works. Visit [www.continental.com].
