JetBlue Expands at LaGuardia and Reagan NationalDecember 2, 2011 By: George Dooley Travel Agent
JetBlue Airways reports it will be able to double its services at New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) next year. The expansion is a result of JetBlue's winning bid in a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) slot auction. JetBlue won eight slot pairs at each airport. A slot pair provides authorization for one daily arriving flight and one daily departing flight.
"Over the years, JetBlue has sought opportunities to grow in both Washington and New York. We will be able to significantly expand our low fare presence in the nation's capital and our hometown of New York City," said JetBlue's Vice President of Network Planning and Partnerships, Scott Laurence.
JetBlue has offered low fare flights at LaGuardia Airport since 2004 and currently provides nonstop service to three Florida destinations - Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood, Orlando and West Palm Beach - with up to ten daily flights.
At Reagan National, where JetBlue began operations in November 2010, the carrier operates up to nine daily flights to its focus cities in Boston, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood and Orlando.
