InterContinental Paris Le Grand Brings Back General ManagerNovember 1, 2010 By: Jena Tesse Fox
Everything old is new again in Paris! The InterContinental Paris Le Grand has appointed Christophe Laure as its general manager. Laure was formerly the general manager of the grand hotel from 2002 to 2004 before he transitioned to InterContinental Malta and his most recent post as general manager of InterContinental Madrid, a position he held for three years.
Born in Nice, Laure began his career in several luxury hotels on the Côte d’Azur – including the Hotel Martinez in Cannes. He joined InterContinental in 1992 as the sales and marketing manager for InterContinental Carlton Cannes, the famous luxury hotel on the Croisette, and then for the InterContinental Princesa Sofia in Barcelona.
Over the past 18 years with InterContinental, Laure previously enjoyed management positions in the luxury hotel brand’s establishments in the Near and Middle East as regional sales and marketing director of the Al Bustan Palace InterContinental Muscat in Oman, general manager of the InterContinental Amman in Jordan, as well as supervising the pre-opening of three InterContinental Group hotels in Egypt as regional general manager.
In Europe, Laure coordinated the complete renovation of the InterContinental Paris Le Grand – an undertaking that cost more than $209 million. He supervised all operational and commercial activities prior to the opening, working to reposition the hotel upmarket while making the InterContinental Paris Le Grand one of InterContinental’s world benchmark establishments.
This was followed by a critical repositioning mission in 2004 at InterContinental Malta following a difficult partial opening. In the following year he tripled the operating profit for the hotel, which features 451 guestrooms, nine restaurants and 18 meeting rooms. In four years, he was able to make InterContinental Malta the number two hotel in the country.
Laure’s wife and two children will join him in Paris.
