Air Tahiti Nui Consolidates Flights from Los Angeles Hub

February 9, 2009 By: Mark Rogers

Air Tahiti Nui is consolidating its North American flights to Tahiti via its Los Angeles hub for the peak 2009 summer season.  From June through September, the French Polynesian carrier will be operating a minimum of 13 flights per week from Los Angeles International Airport to Faa’a International Airport in Papeete, Tahiti. Air Tahiti Nui’s decision not to operate its twice-weekly JFK summer flights and to streamline service through its West Coast gateway is based on its available capacity to Tahiti and current economic conditions.

Travel Agent spoke with Anna Qunyh Vo, vice president sales & marketing, Tahiti Legends. “We’ve already redirected flights for our clients,” says Vo. “It’s a good direction they’re taking and it’s better that they focus on the West Coast.” Vo went on to say that she’d rather see the carrier fly with daily scheduled flights that were profitable rather than fly half full or on flights that will be canceled.
