Following last month's legalization of same-sex marriage in the State of New York, New York City is set to welcome its first gay hotel, The Out NYC, this fall 2011. The 105-room boutique property, which is being developed by Parkview Developers, will be located in New York's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood and will feature an 11,000 square-foot XL Nightclub, lounge and cabaret by John Blair, Beto Sutter and FV Events; a 24/7 cafe and restaurant, Kitchen; three separate courtyards; a business/conference center; function space; and a 5,000 square-foot wellness center.

“This is an idea whose time has come," said Ian Reisner, managing partner of Parkview Developers. "What makes The Out NYC a gay hotel is the comfort level and tailored amenities for the community. The Out NYC will become a ‘can’t-miss’ for gay tourists as well as the epicenter of gay life for LGBT New Yorkers. With New York’s recent legislation, we look forward not only to hosting countless gay couples, but marrying them as well.”

According to NYC & Company, the official marketing, tourism and partnership organization for the City of New York, the pasing of same-sex marriage legislation is expected to contribute "hundreds of millions of dollars" to the city's $31-billion tourism industry, as well as create tourism industry jobs. The organization is currently developing a multi-channel, global marketing and communications campaign called "NYC I Do" to promote all five boroughs as gay-friendly wedding destinations.

The first phase of The Out NYC hotel is set for completion with the opening of XL Nightclub, lounge and cabaret in the fall of 2011. The venue was developed by by noted gay nightlife impresarios John Blair and Beto Sutter and party promoters Brandon Voss and Tony Fornabaio of FV Events. Blair and Sutter, are known for their legendary Saturday night parties at The Roxy. The venue will be open seven days a week, and will feature an LED wall, two dance floors and a full stage.

Subsequent phases of the project include the opening of the boutique hotel, which features 105 rooms with starting nightly room rates of approximately $250. The 24/7 cafe and restaurant, Kitchen, will be operated by the team behind the successful Hell’s Kitchen favorite, Eatery Restaurant, and will offer upscale comfort food. Function space at the hotel will also be designed to accommodate a range of activities, including weddings.
