Airberlin Launches New Flights from New York to Berlin

September 22, 2010 By: Jena Tesse Fox

Yesterday, airberlin announced the launch of a new nonstop service from New York to Berlin as of summer 2011. The new service from JFK International Airport to the German capital will operate four times a week, each Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, beginning on May 2, 2011, while offering flexibility and convenience to business and leisure travelers alike.
“airberlin has committed to join the prime airline alliance oneworld in 2012 and will start offering codeshare flights with American Airlines as of November," said Joachim Hunold, CEO of airberlin during a press conference in New York. “The enlarged offer of flights to airberlin’s other German hub Düsseldorf is a further crucial element in preparation of becoming a full member of oneworld. Jointly with our partners from American Airlines we will soon be able to link our hubs on both sides of the Atlantic and further strengthen our position with flights under one codehare number."

The airline has also expanded its flights from New York to Düsseldorf. Flights will start operating as of March 28, 2011 linking the two cities up to seven times a week instead of the five weekly flights offered previously.
The new New York-Berlin service will be available for bookings from September 23. For more information, visit
