Commerce Secretary Bryson Resigns

June 21, 2012 By: Newswire Travel Agent

Roger Dow, president and CEO of the U.S. Travel Association, thanked Commerce Secretary John Bryson for his contributions to the travel industry following his resignation over health issues.

“Secretary Bryson’s tenure at the Commerce Department came at a key time for the U.S. travel industry, and we are especially appreciative for his leadership in crafting the President’s national travel and tourism strategy announced earlier this year that sets a bold goal of creating American jobs by attracting 100 million international visitors by 2021,” said Dow.

“Secretary Bryson understood the power of inbound travel in creating U.S. exports and was a great partner to the U.S. travel industry. We wish him a full recovery and the best in his future endeavors.”

Bryson transferred his duties as Secretary to Deputy Secretary Dr. Rebecca Blank, who became Acting Secretary of Commerce.
