DOT Extends Comment Period for IATA Resolution 787

business travelerThe– Business Travel Coalition (BTC) welcomed the U.S. Department of Transportation’'s (DOT) decision to extend from April 1 to May 1 the public comment period on the International Air Transport Association's (IATA) application before DOT for approval of its Resolution 787

BTC also create a website to facilitate industry comment on IATA's New Distribution Capability (NDC), also known as IATA Resolution 787. The DOT docket number is OST-2013-0048.

"“We welcome that additional time has been provided to the travel industry, its major customers and individual consumers to comment on this public-policy deliberation of immense strategic importance,”" said BTC Chairman Kevin Mitchell

"“This IATA initiative represents a new global business model for pricing and selling air transportation that would structurally change the industry in unalterable ways impacting all supply chain participants, including the end customer,"” said Mitchell.

"BTC’s view in that whether in support of or in opposition to Resolution 787 travel industry participants from around the world should take advantage of the opportunity to influence the outcome of DOT’'s review and submit comments before May 1," Mitchell said.
