Vail Resorts hopes to introduce a new summer adventure activities program called Epic Discovery at Breckenridge Ski Resort, Colorado. If approved, the construction of various on-mountain attractions will generate jobs and boost the mountain community’s year-round economy.
Vail will partner with The Nature Conservancy to develop experiences for guests that are both fun and environmentally educational, encouraging kids to “learn through play.” As such, 1 percent of summer lift ticket and activity revenue will go toward forest restoration projects.
Most activities will be built on peaks 7 and 8, and include 14 miles of beginner, intermediate and family oriented mountain biking trails, adventure hiking zones, zip lines and ropes courses, and off-road mountaintop touring, all complimented by environmental and interpretive programing.
The first Epic Discovery was launched on Vail Mountain in July, 2012, with great economic success, making this Vail Resort’s second proposal to the US Forest Service under new legislation.
