Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport Enters Green Lodging ProgramMay 15, 2009 By: Travel Agent Central Contributor
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) today welcomed the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport to the Florida Green Lodging Program. The voluntary state initiative provides the lodging industry with technical assistance, encouraging hotels and motels to adopt cost-saving “green” practices that reduce waste and conserve natural resources.
To become a designated member of the Florida Green Lodging Program, hotels must follow certain green practices. These practices are in the areas of water conservation, energy efficiency, and waste management. Practices by Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport include, but are not limited to, low flow water fixtures, programmable thermostats, energy management systems, a towel reuse program, and a recycling program.
“The entire team at Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport has worked hard to achieve this designation and we are honored to be a part of the Florida Green Lodging Program,” said Pat Engfer, general manager of the property. “Maintaining a healthy environment is a shared responsibility and we recognize that it is vitally important not only to ourselves and our guests, but to all future generations as well.”
The Florida Green Lodging Program was established in 2004 by the DEP with the intent of recognizing and rewarding environmentally conscientious lodging facilities in the state.
