LaSource Honors 50th Anniversary of Bianca C Sinking

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Bianca C sinking, during which 750 cruise ship passengers were rescued and housed by the local people of Grenada, luxury-inclusive spa resort LaSource will offer daily dives to the historic site throughout the week of October 22.

The famed Bianca C cruise ship, known as the "Titanic of the Caribbean,” sank into Grenada’s coastal waters on October 22, 1961. The site is now included among the top wreck sites in the world and remains the largest shipwreck in the Caribbean for experienced divers.

Although Bianca C has drawn a wealth of dive enthusiasts to the destination over the past 50 years, the site must also be remembered for the demonstration of the authentic warmth and hospitality of the Grenadian people. The local community gathered together to house and look after the ship’s passengers as there were no hotels or resort developments on the island at that time. The event marked a turning point in Grenada’s history, and the island soon became a world-class destination known for its friendly people and service-driven culture.

To pay tribute to this heroic spirit of generosity, LaSource and its dive partners will offer daily dives as well as exclusive snorkeling excursions with the famous Mermaids of Scuba Radio. Guests will also be able to rent their own mermaid tails to swim and snorkel at the Sculptor Park dive site.

Scuba Radio, the world’s first radio show devoted to diving, will broadcast live from LaSource from 3 to 5 p.m. eastern on Saturday, October 22. Listeners can tune in on more than 35 radio stations nationwide or online at www.ScubaRadio.com.

Also, one ne 50-minute spa treatment is included each day, excluding arrival and departure days.
