Cruising Toward a Better Haiti

Three travel professionals are taking a major initiative to breathe life back into Haiti. Take one part aid mission and one part cruise and what do you get? Cruise4Haiti.

Cruise4Haiti works with two non-profit groups, Airline Ambassadors and For Haiti With Love, to bring five pallets of supplies, including medical necessities and food, as well as money to the ravaged island.

The November 14 sailing will depart from Miami aboard Royal Caribbean's Liberty of the Seas. The project is the brainchild of Carrie Finley-Bajak from Cruise Holidays of Mission Viejo; Nancy Schretter, managing editor of FamilyTravelNetwork.com and founder of nonprofit Together for Good; and Rich Tucker, social media marketing manager for Travel Leaders Leisure Group and CruiseSource blogger.

The seven-night cruise departs Miami and heads to St. Maarten, San Juan and Labadee, Haiti. Rates start at $634 per person with $75 being contributed directly to Haitian aid.

But the good work does not stop there. While in Haiti, passengers will deliver the donations as well as have the opportunity in San Juan to deliver holiday cheer to disadvantaged children.
