Haiti is taking major strides to help revive its tourism industry. Starting in December, Royal Caribbean Cruises will make Haiti's northern beach resort Labadee a port-of-call for its new Oasis of the Seas, the largest cruise ship in the world.

Haitian Tourism Minister Patrick Delatour told Reuters that the Haitian government signed a deal with Venezuela for an international airport in Cap-Haitien, as part of the effort to draw tourists to the country.

Other plans are in the works including a road connecting Labadee and Haiti's World Heritage Site: a park which is home to the Citadelle Laferriere fortress and the Sans Souci palace.
