Big Island Resort Offers Cultural Immersion

April 20, 2010 By: Jena Tesse Fox

Who says a relaxing vacation on Hawaii's Big Island can't be as educational as it is relaxing and fun? Hilton Waikoloa Village (part of Waikoloa Beach Resort) is turning vacations into gateways to cultural immersion. (They even have a Hawaiian Cultural Committee to make sure everything is done right.) Visitors can learn about local Hawaiian heritage and history by something as simple as dining on authentic Hawaiian cuisine, or try something artistic like taking hula dancing or ukulele lessons.

Some of the interactive cultural activities include the KPC Hawaiian Legends & Storytelling, a new restaurant dinner event featuring an island-inspired four-course meal and authentic Hawaiian storytelling, and the Evening Under the Stars at Wai'ulua Bay, which brings guests together at Ocean View Terrace with picnic baskets and tales from members of the Hawaiian community.

Travelers interested in the resort's cultural immersion opportunities can book the 7th Night Free with Luau package. Available trough December 31 with a minimum seven-night stay, the last night is free and guests receive two complimentary Luau tickets. Rates start at $239 per room, per night.
