Mauna Kea Beach Hotel's $4.5 Million Renovation Project Includes New Ballroom

Mauna Kea Beach Hotel’s popular Copper Terrace, along with the former Kaunaoa Bar & Grill, will undergo a major transformation over the next several months.

A recent, traditional Hawaiian blessing by Kahu Danny Akaka, Jr. officially launched the $4.5 million renovation project that will aim to revitalize Copper Terrace, a well-known gathering place at Mauna Kea Beach Hotel. 

Simultaneously, the former Kaunaoa Bar & Grill will be transformed into what will become one of the newest ballrooms on the Kohala CoastThe new ballroom, with floor to ceiling windows framing stunning views of Kaunaoa Bay, will offer nearly 4,000 square feet of indoor function space, expansive outdoor pre-function areas, as well as an adjacent boardroom.

“This is an exciting time for Mauna Kea Beach Hotel as we continue to celebrate our 50th anniversary while looking ahead to a bright future,” said Craig Anderson, Mauna Kea Beach Hotel's general manager, in a written release. “These improvements will allow us to continue to compete in a global marketplace while also elevating guest experiences.”

The Copper Terrace is slated for completion by mid-December. The new Kaunaoa Ballroom will debut by mid-January. Mauna Kea Beach Hotel is located on Hawaii's Big Island
