Boutique Buzz: Henry Howard Hotel Opens in New Orleans

The Henry Howard Hotel, a new luxury boutique hotel located in New OrleansGarden District, is now open.Henry Howard Hotel

The reinvented hotel, originally a townhouse-style mansion built in the 19th century by architect Henry Howard, has Greek revival architecture with Corinthian columns and galleries complete with walk-through windows that allow for plenty of natural light.

New York city-based Hunter Mabry Design and its founder, Lauren Mabry, are responsible for the redesign, which aims to honor Henry Howard’s traditional historic elements while incorporating modern accents as well.

Each room has a mix of vintage and custom-designed furniture, second line instruments, and commissioned artwork by local artist Hayley Gaberlavage. Common areas and guestrooms also contain accents from graphic designer, Kathleen Fitzgerald, while New Orleans-inspired toile wallpaper depicts several iconic landmarks and characters, including the hotel’s namesake, Henry Howard.

The Henry Howard Hotel is also an ideal location for hosting special events and group celebrations, as the hotel’s Parlor has a bar, 12-foot ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, crown molding and red pine flooring. For more intimate occasions such as private weddings and social gatherings, the backyard courtyard can accommodate smaller groups. In addition, the Penthouse Suite can double as a hospitality suite to host bridal gatherings.

The Henry Howard Hotel is now open for bookings with room rates starting at $189 per night.
